Galeriju apskate – kajam un vardiem/Gallery Walk, Gallery Talk

18 Feb

Te galerijas, kurās bijām:

Yesterday during the interns educational program we went on a gallery tour,  just like a school excursion! :)

The advantage of our office’s location is remarkable – just step outside and sort the galleries you want to visit. We went to see a few where the artists’ names don’t need further comment – Robert Adams, Wolfgang Tillmans, Erwin Olaf… Even if they are big and deserved names (I particularly appreciated Robert Adam’s b&w prints of Summer Nights, Walking. The same title as a book edited by Aperture), I was glad to discover a new talent Timothy Briner and his series on American towns Boonville. Maybe one of the reasons why I like them is the fact I have some similar shots in my “archive” (why I haven’t shown them to anyone yet?), maybe because I could feel a real personal story in this body of work.

We have several galleries only in our building, I can have a quick look during the lunch brake and go also for a glass of wine on Thursday nights when there are openings.

I will surely go again, on my rhythm but it’s nice to have someone who shows around because to know everything that is going on in the area, it’s a full time job!
