Grāmatas/Books

11 Sep

Ir klāt rudens un atsācies sestdienu darbs Aperture galerijā/grāmatveikalā. Tad nu laiks jaunai grāmatu apskatei! Šodienas top 3 ir sekojošs:

The fall is here and I’m back to Saturday work at the gallery/bookstore. So it’s time for the next book review! My top 3 today is following:

1. Alex Webb Istanbul. City of Hundred Names

Šī Magnum fotogrāfa darbi ir tik vienkārši, skaisti un neatkārtojami, ka es varu šķirstīt lapas no viena gala līdz otram, skatīties vienā bildē  un ieraudzīt arvien jaunas detaļas. Noteikti gribas redzēt Stambulu!

The works of this Magnum photographer are so simple, beautiful and unique that I can go through the pages from one cover to another, and then once again, I can look at one picture and always find some new details. I definitely want to visit Istanbul!

2. Richard Misrach Destroy this Memory

Darbs tapa pēc Katrīnas viesuļošanās. Fotogrāfs braukāja apkārt un fotografēja postījumus, izvēloties fiksēt uzrakstus, ko cilvēki atstājuši uz sagrautajiem īpašumiem.

This body of work was made after hurricane Katrina. The photographer drove around and photographed the messages people had left on the destroyed properties.

3. reGeneration2. Tomorrow’s Photographers Today.

Mākslas mednieki, kas mēģinājuši notvert talantīgākos fotogrāfijas skolu absolventus, solot, ka viņi nākotnē nepievils un rādīs brīnumus – sekojam līdzi!

The art hunters have tried to get the most talented graduates from photography schools, announcing that they would keep us surprised in the future – let’s follow up!
