Savādāks kompanjons/A Different Companion

Šodien pastaigājos (atkal) pa mežu un klajuma malā, kur pirms tam biju apbrīnojusi no jauna sasalušās slēpju atstātās sliedes, ieraudzīju 7 stirniņas/buciņus. Izdevās man viņiem pietuvoties līdz kādiem 10 m, tad gan bēga prom. Priecīgu prātu devos mājup, taču netālu no ceļa skatos, vēl pāris. Un tad viņas sāka “birt” laukā no krūmiem, aizskaitīju līdz 9! Neticami! Te viens (vai viena? ziemā bez ragiem es ne vienmēr atšķiru stirnu no buka..), kādu laiku noturējis manu acu skatu, nāca arvien tuvāk līdz man šķita, ka jāsāk atkāpties. Kādu brīdi viņš sekoja maniem paātrinātajiem sirdspukstiem.

Today I was walking in the forest again and at the edge of a clearing where just beforehand I was admiring the frozen “trails” left after some skiers, I saw seven deers and does. I managed to approach them up to some 10m close until they ran away.  I was going home happy about my encounter when suddenly I saw a few more. Then they started to literally burst out of the bushes and I counted up to 9. Unbelievable! hen one deer (or doe? I don’t always see the difference in winter when they don’t have horns) who had held my gaze for some time, started to come closer until there where no more than a few meters in between us. Then I decided to step back. He followed my accelerated heartbeat for a while.
